During a walk with his fiancée after work in Plant City, FL, Officer Pietrusinski noticed smoke billowing out from the roof of a house. Just then, the homeowner came running up, screaming that her two autistic sons were still inside. Determined to get them out safely, Pietrusinski doused himself with water from the garden hose, pulled his wet shirt over his mouth to keep from breathing in smoke, and ran inside the burning house. He soon found one of the boys and brought him safely outside to his mother. He then raced back inside to look for the still missing brother. Firefighters, by then, had arrived on the scene and with Pietrusinski’s assistance, they were able to locate and rescue the second boy as well.
