While on his day off, Detective Deickmann noticed smoke coming from the garage of a home in Middletown, NJ. He entered the smoke-filled house to find an elderly, disabled woman lying on the ground, completely disoriented. With the help of her walker, he used his own body to protect her from the flames as he guided her out of the burning house.
