While heading home from work, off-duty Deputy Michael Castaneda came upon a vehicle stranded on train tracks while a train quickly approached. Upon noticing the driver attempting to rescue children from the car, Castaneda jumped out of his vehicle and hurried to help, managing to carry one of the children to safety, with just seconds to spare before the train plowed into the car. Deputy Castaneda’s quick thinking and bravery saved lives and prevented a tragedy from occurring.
