In the early morning hours, firefighter Jose Cristales was still in bed asleep when he was awoken by his sister after she heard someone on the street scream. Jumping out of bed and rushing outside, he found that a teenager had been run over by an SUV and was now pinned under the car and no longer breathing. With the help of a nearby construction crew’s excavator, they were able to lift the car off the teen so Cristales could perform CPR. He was able to get her heart started again before passing her onto EMTs.
