Officer Joseph Benson & Officer Tyler McElroy

Officer Benson was shopping at a grocery store in Brunswick County, NC when he overheard a fellow shopper get a call that their baby, who was at home with his wife, had just had a seizure and had stopped breathing. Concerned that the father was too distraught to drive home on his own, Benson offered to drive. At the same time, Officer McElroy was on his way home from his shift when he overheard dispatch mention the baby. He was nearby and turned around to see if he could assist. The officers and father arrived at the house at about the same time. Fortunately, the baby had started breathing again. But the Officers stayed with the family until the paramedics arrived.
