Patrol Trooper J.W. Cook

Enjoying a day on Lake Waccamaw, NC, Trooper Cook heard that a family onshore had lost sight of some of their party, who had been last been seen swimming in the middle of the lake. A thunderstorm had recently passed overhead and the family was concerned that they may have drifted out and not have the strength to swim back. So Cook took his boat out onto the lake, then located and rescued the missing swimmers. By the time Cook found them, the swimmers had been treading water for nearly an hour, awaiting rescue.
